Bringing Deer Back Home – A Program to Restore Balance

The Everglades may never be what it once was, but we can help it thrive again. White-tailed deer once roamed across this entire landscape and we’re embarking on an effort to restore their range, the wild places and the wildlife with a one of a kind-project. This is our invitation to you to join us.

Deer Friends is an open invitation to our “dear friends” — people like you who care about wild Florida. Join us in supporting this one-of-a-kind restoration effort and become part of a living story of renewal.

Why Now

Giving Restoration a Chance

What happened?

Deer disappeared due to flooding, habitat loss, predation and barriers.

What’s changing?

New water management, partnerships, and preparation.

Why it matters?

Restoring balance, rebuilding ecology, reconnecting culture.

For the first time in decades, white-tailed deer will return to an area of the Everglades where they’ve long been absent.

Rising waters, invasive species, and human barriers drove deer out of geographic ranges.

A one-of-a-kind partnership with tribes, landowners, and conservationists will restore an Everglades herd.

Your support helps make this reintroduction possible—and keeps Florida’s outdoors wild for generations to come.

DONATE NOW!

Donations of $25 to $2,500 provide benefits, exclusive images, research and conversations while helping to restore wildlife and wild places.

Join us in supporting the Cypress Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America as we take steps to restore balance.
