Executive Director

Mike Elfenbein, a Florida native now residing on the SW Florida coast with his wife and two children, is the Executive Director of the Cypress Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America.

His conservation journey began in the charter fishing industry and was furthered by his role on the South Florida Water Management District’s Water Resources Analysis Coalition under Governor Rick Scott from 2016 to 2019. Mike’s previous leadership positions include serving on the board and as executive director of the Fishing and Conservation Trust and as a delegate for the Everglades Coordinating Council. His dedication to conservation is deeply connected to the Big Cypress National Preserve, leading to his prior role as Conservation Chair for the Cypress Chapter.

Additionally, he contributes to the Future of Hunting in Florida board and various Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission advisory groups. An avid outdoorsman, Mike spends his free time exploring Florida’s wilderness with his family.
