Summary

3rd Annual Conservation at the Capitol – A Unified Voice for Florida Conservation (February, 2026)

3rd Annual Conservation at the Capitol – A Unified Voice for Florida Conservation

Nearly 30 conservation organizations attending the FWC Commission Meeting in Tallahassee came together for our 3rd Annual Conservation at the Capitol, coordinated by Cypress IWLA Executive Director Mike Elfenbein.

The evening was an outstanding success — celebrating conservation wins, strengthening partnerships, and reinforcing the importance of collaboration across Florida’s conservation community.

A highlight of the event was presenting Representative Lauren Melo with an award recognizing her steadfast contributions to conservation in Florida. Her leadership and consistent engagement on issues impacting wildlife, habitat, and outdoor heritage continue to make a meaningful difference across our state.

We were honored to be joined by FWC Commissioners, FWC Executive Staff, and members of the Florida Legislature, all of whom play a critical role in advancing sound wildlife management and science-based conservation policy.

When conservation organizations gather alongside agency leadership and policymakers, real progress happens.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a success. Together, we are building lasting momentum for Florida’s wildlife, waters, and wild places.
